Christmas is one of the most festival times of the year which is enjoyed by everyone. It is enjoyed by everyone because of the reason that it gives an opportunity to family to reconnect and the Christmas tree is a symbol of the bond that all shares because we always put it together and decorate it as a family. A Christmas without the Christmas tree is illogical. There can be no Christmas celebrations without the essence and fragrance of Xmas trees. They are the central part of the celebrations as all the customs happens in front of the trees and the gifts are suffixed with them.
These trees act as the symbolic representation of Christmas in various European countries because they stayed green and alive when other plants appeared dead and bare. They represented everlasting life and hope for the return of spring. It is said that the evolution of Christmas trees first happened in Germany during the first half of 700s, from where happened many changes and has now been regarded as the symbol of Christmas in all parts of the world. Few also feel the origin of the Christmas tree may be the “Paradise Play”.
Some say that the first used Xmas trees were fir trees and before that it was hemlocks (It’s still a myth!). But today there are approximately 50 different kinds of conifers sold to woo shoppers. So here is a small tip for you in picking a fresh Xmas tree;
‘Gently grasp a branch and pull your fingers toward you. Very few needles should come off if the tree is fresh. Then, discretely pick off a few needles and bend them between your fingers. If the tree is fresh, the needles should break or crisply snap – just like a fresh carrot’.
