Every Christmas celebrations first start with hanging a star in front of the houses. The star is the first sign that depicts the arrival Christmas’s festive season. The Christmas star has traditionally been associated with the spirit of the celebration and there is something very special about it. At the same time, scholars, astronomers and laymen have speculated on the nature of the star that led the wise men from the east to seek out the Messiah. There have been speculations and mysteries running behind the presence of the Christmas star.

One story that depicts the role of the star is that it was the one which showed the route for the shepherds to the place where and when Jesus Christ was born. The story goes like, there was a day when a star, very bright, making the hills night look as day. Along with it came an angel which said that the star has come to bring good, tidings of great joy, and to show the place where a little baby is born, whose name is Jesus, and who will give peace and joy to the whole world. So, the shepherds followed the star that led them to the birth place of Jesus Christ.

On the other hand, the astronomers are trying to discover whether such a star could exist at the time of Christ birth. (2000 years ago). Astronomers rule out the possibility of a Meteor, because the Christmas star has been guiding the route for few days (Meteor lasts for only few secs). There could be a possibility for a bright star to appear at the time when the planets Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn were close together in the heavens. They formed a triangle in the group of stars known as Pisces. But the doubt remains whether this period coincides with the birth of the Christ (no evidence to prove)
